Our Voices. Our Stories. Our Future.
With your support, we will launch the first Native Hawaiian–owned and led film studio.
Queen Liliʻuokalani Studios will be the first Native Hawaiian–owned and led film studio on Hawaiian homelands. This is your opportunity to join the Founders Hui and leave a lasting legacy for our Lāhui.
Why Queen Lili‘uokalani Studios?
Queen Lili‘uokalani Studios is more than a building — it’s a movement.
Queen Lili‘uokalani was Hawai‘i’s last reigning monarch, a leader of dignity and fierce love for her people. Yet beyond her political courage, she was one of Hawai‘i’s greatest cultural creators — composing over 150 songs, including the world-renowned Aloha ‘Oe. Her music carried the heartbeat of the Hawaiian people, blending poetry, resistance, and beauty in a way that still echoes today.
Inspired by her artistry and vision, the Native Hawaiian–owned and led Queen Lili‘uokalani Studios will be a place where Native Hawaiians create, train, and tell our own stories for the world stage. Just as she used music to preserve identity and uplift our lāhui, this studio will ensure that our voices, images, and narratives lead in the global film industry.
The Founders Hui fundraiser launches this dream. Your contribution builds training programs, studio design, and leadership capacity to carry forward the Queen’s legacy of creativity and empowerment.
Partnerships include Kānehili, Kaupe‘a, and Ka‘uluokaha‘i communty homesteads, with support from DHHL waitlisters and homestead ‘ohana — grounding this project in the people and places it is meant to serve.
